As customers, we feel really free about doing our groceries. You can choose where you are going to buy your food and what kind of food you are going to buy. But how free are we really? In the bigger supermarket, you can only buy what the supermarket provides. The first lecture of this academic year will address the negative influence of the food industry. During this evening Prof. Brigit Toebes will point out what the problem is with the food industry and why it is a growing concern for public health. Obesity, one of the so-called non-contagious diseases, is a prime cause of death worldwide. How responsible are the food industry and the government for the growing group of patients with obesity? Prof. Toebes has been in the field of Global Health Law for 20 years and has been a long-standing member of Global health law Groningen. Come and learn what your role is as a customer!
