Description

Are you interested in a PhD position in the future, but do you have no idea where to start? Join this event in collaboration with Young Academy Groningen to get tips and advice from current interdisciplinary PhD students and their supervisors about the application procedure, how to make yourself stand out and more!

This evening will be hosted by Dr. Gert Stulp, a researcher at the Faculty of Behavioral Sciences and member of Young Academy Groningen, who has supervised several Interdisciplinary PhD students over the years.

In addition, two of the YAG’s interdisciplinary PhD students, Saskia Nijmeijer and Lionel Newman will be sharing their experiences, advice and tips. There will be plenty of room for all of your questions.

Program:
20:00 – 20:15 opening by Dr. Gert Stulp
20:15 – 20:30 tips, tricks & advice from Lionel Newman
20:30 – 20:45 tips, tricks & advice from Saskia Nijmeijer
20:45 – 21:00 questions from the audience
21:00 – 21:30 drinks

This is not only a great event for master students to learn about the importance of interdisciplinary PhD’s and the ways in which one can acquire one, but also for (future) PhD supervisors to learn from current students and supervisors on how to build a strong relationship and how to guide and work with one another. Each year the Young Academy Groningen is provided with three 4-year PhD Scholarship positions to develop interdisciplinary PhD projects that cross between the disciplines of Young Academy Groningen members. These positions are fully funded by the University Board and the Faculties. Find out more here!
